Art Responses
Picture A
1. This picture resembles a hispanic looking woman who wears a palette of blue and and red accent necklace. She seems to have a dismal. depressed, or disappointed look on his face. She is facing her left as if looking off the picture.
2. The background is a dark red with a hint of black in the corner. Giving the impression of anger or upset emotions. The mood is giving a negative light; with the subject in a set posture and tense shoulders. Possibly trying to resemble a strong exterior and the face expressionless as possible.
- Paint was only 1 of 3 mediums, when in actuality the image was a combination of paint, human models, and a picture taken by camera.
3. This picture looks as if it was created with paint. The medium of paint is up for debate. There appears to be texture and a blend of colors accessible through a brush.
4. The human brain interprets surroundings through our eyes, and sees objects in color. Because of this, color is imperative to emotion as that is how it is read. So the color wheel chosen by the artist is of the utmost importance in expressing the message to a viewer.
- The message is almost exactly portrayed as the artist intended. with the true emotion of her subject shining through into her art when she used still life subjects.
5. The picture has little to no context so unless the artist is attempting to invoke negative emotions, then I would not agree that the artist has effectively created an image to do so.
Picture B
1. This image gives off a more helplessness, fear, remorsefulness, and apathy. The posture of the model almost seems backed up against a wall, giving the impression of unhappiness.
2. This picture looks to be created with paints as well. But also looks more detailed and blended, so many it was created with pencils instead.
3. The main background color is a blood orange, which is much harder to interpret as orange is not as often associated with as strong emotions. In this situation the orange chosen could simply be to compliment to model's palette.
4. I believe the artist was attempting to convey trust, and succeeded.
